There something different in the air when you’re at a New Year’s Eve wedding. Not only are you excited for a celebration of two people becoming one but you’re also anticipating the celebration of a new year, a new era, a new beginning…so to speak. You can sense it from everybody joining together on this momentous occasion -there’s an extra pep in their step, their energy feels more vibrant. You just have a feeling everybody was going celebrate a little more loudly than usual.
We wanted to capture all these emotions and subtle moments for Katie + Adam’s story. There were so many narratives to explore that we essentially structured their story into 3 short stories. The first story being a grand introduction -introducing all our subjects, establishing location(s), details and vibe. A fortuitous discovery of beautiful piano rendition of Auld Lang Syne really helped shaped the direction of the beginning of this film. In the second story, we wanted to explore more of Katie + Adam’s personality and relationship as told through speeches from their family members and first look. And in the last story, it all came together; the balloons, the band, the slow-mo booth…everyone was ready to party like it was 1999 -cementing the theme of celebration. How fitting the name Gaudino means happy/joy because it was on display throughout their wedding day and most certainly on the dance floor! Katie + Adam, congrats on having the celebration of a lifetime, we wish you nothing but the best as you embark on your new beginning as the Gaudinos!
